Islamabad Balika Etimkhana was established in 1984 as a joint effort between social welfare Agencies and private individuals (a number of leading citizens) who felt the need to create an organisation for proper rehabilitation of orphan girls through imparting fundamental education and vocational training. The orphanage has received government support over the years but major sponsors have been private donors and other generous individuals. At present approximately 200 girls, between the age of 5 to 18, are accommodated in a three storied building.  IBE also employs 30 teachers, 7 administrative staff and 11 support staff.
